The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced the launch of a new web page where taxpayers can confidentially report suspected fraud and scams.

The web page consolidates multiple options the IRS offers for fraud reporting into a single, centralized location. In addition to reporting tax fraud and scams, taxpayers can use the web page to report other illegal tax-related activities, including tax evasion.

“Improvements to the IRS fraud reporting system make reporting suspected wrongdoing easier and simpler and will address historic challenges that had prevented the IRS from making maximum use of the referrals it receives,” said IRS Chief Executive Officer Frank J. Bisignano. “By reporting suspected tax fraud or scams, taxpayers play an important role in uncovering fraud and supporting the integrity of the nation’s tax system.”

Taxpayers can access the new web page by selecting the new “Report Fraud” button on the IRS.gov homepage or at IRS.gov/SubmitATip. The IRS encourages taxpayers to report suspected tax-related suspicious activity as soon as possible to help the agency address fraud and noncompliance.

The launch of the new web page is the first step in ongoing improvements to the IRS’s fraud reporting process. In the long term, the agency plans to further streamline fraud reporting by reducing forms, automating processes, and using modern case management software. These changes aim to address historic challenges the IRS has faced in using referrals in years to come.
